Postdoctoral Position in Tissue Clearing & 3D Histopathology for Cancer Imaging

The Ertürk Lab at Helmholtz Munich, led by Professor Ali Maximilian Ertürk, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Scientist to advance research in tissue clearing and 3D histopathology, with a focus on cancer imaging. The position is based at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany, and offers the opportunity to work in a cutting-edge environment at the intersection of medical science, biology, and biomedical engineering. Key responsibilities include developing and optimizing tissue-clearing protocols for human cancer samples, performing 3D microscopy using light sheet and confocal systems, and collaborating with computational scientists to integrate multi-modal datasets and quantitative readouts. The role also encourages innovation in experimental approaches for cancer tissue clearing. Applicants should have strong hands-on expertise in tissue processing, H&E/IHC/IF staining, and experience handling biological imaging datasets. Prior experience with colorectal cancer biology and supervising junior colleagues is highly advantageous. The lab provides an intellectually stimulating environment, flexible work schedules, and extensive career development programs. To apply, candidates should email their CV, transcripts, and motivation letter to [email protected] and [email protected] by December 31, 2025. For more information about the lab and research interests, visit the Ertürk Lab academic page. This opportunity is ideal for postdoctoral researchers interested in advanced cancer imaging, tissue clearing, and collaborative interdisciplinary research.

PhD in Cancer Biology, Neuroimmunology, Whole-Body Imaging, Spatial Proteomics and AI at LMU Munich

🚀 PhD opportunity at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU Munich) in the Ertürk Lab, working at the interface of cancer biology , neuroimmunology , whole-body imaging , spatial proteomics , and AI . The project investigates how nerves, immune cells, and cancer cells interact within the metastatic tumor microenvironment and how these interactions affect resistance to immunotherapy, including immune checkpoint blockade and CAR T cells . The successful PhD student will use the lab’s unique whole-body tissue clearing and light-sheet microscopy platforms to map micrometastases, innervation patterns, and immune cell engagement across the entire mouse body at single-cell resolution. The work also includes wildDISCO-based immunolabeling , 3D spatial omics , and AI-based analysis of large-scale imaging datasets. Eligibility: A Master’s degree in cancer biology, immunology, neuroscience, biomedical sciences, biomedical engineering, or a related field is required. Experience with tumor models, immune cell engineering, cancer biology, microscopy, animal work, programming, or spatial data analysis is a strong plus. How to apply: Send a single PDF file under 2 MB including your motivation letter, CV, and contact details of 2–3 references to Xiaoshan Hu at [email protected] . Announcer: Ali Maximilian Ertürk, Full Professor at LMU Munich and Director at Helmholtz Munich.
