PhD Position in Sustainable Biocatalysis at Technical University of Munich

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is offering a PhD position in Sustainable Biocatalysis within the Department of Bioscience. The research will be conducted in the laboratory of Biosystems Chemistry of Natural Products, under the supervision of Prof. Ana I. Benítez-Mateos. The successful candidate will join a young and dynamic research group working in state-of-the-art laboratories. The main focus of the project is to develop new methodologies for creating more stable enzymes using intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs). The research aims to assemble enzymatic cascades for the sustainable synthesis of natural products, with applications in pharmaceuticals, food additives, and other high-value molecules. This interdisciplinary project combines elements of chemistry, biology, and biotechnology, and is particularly relevant for those interested in sustainable science and green chemistry. Eligibility and Requirements: Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related field. Essential skills include knowledge of biochemical reactions, molecular biology, and protein chemistry. Experience with enzymatic assays and computational tools such as Pymol and Chimera is desirable but not mandatory. The position is open until filled, so early application is encouraged. Application Process: Interested candidates should apply as soon as possible, as the selection process will close once a suitable candidate is found. For more information and to apply, follow the provided links. The position is based in Germany and offers the opportunity to work in a leading European research environment. Keywords: Sustainable Biocatalysis, Biosystems Chemistry, Natural Products, Enzymatic Cascades, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Protein Chemistry.
