The research theme is strongly oriented toward
ecological care
,
ecological repair
, environmental management, and the social dimensions of aquatic ecosystems such as lakes, rivers, wetlands, seas, oceans, and melting ice caps. The project invites researchers to develop their own plan while working with Dr. Jose A. Cañada and the research team. The post emphasizes interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary work across social science, environmental governance, and technoscientific debates.
Core research interests include: more-than-human care, knowledge production, scientific citizenship, public participation, methodological experimentation, sensory approaches, and justice in environmental futures. The post is especially relevant for candidates interested in how humans, institutions, citizens, indigenous communities, and scientific actors shape restoration and policy around aquatic habitats in northern contexts.
Postdoctoral applicants
should hold a completed doctoral degree in a relevant field such as STS, anthropology, sociology, social psychology, or environmental social sciences, with the degree completed by the closing date and awarded no more than 10 years ago. They should have qualitative research experience, publications or a defended thesis monograph, strong English communication skills, and the ability to collaborate in research and dissemination. Conversational Finnish is appreciated.
Doctoral applicants
should hold a relevant master’s degree, have experience or training in qualitative social science research, and be able to apply for doctoral study at the start of employment. Strong English communication and a transdisciplinary orientation are required.
