Postdoctoral Fellowship in Complex Fluid Dynamics (Microfluidics, Microswimmers, Biomedical Flows) at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad

The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) has announced the upcoming call for the National Post-Doctoral Fellowship (NPDF), and Prof. Antarip Poddar, Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad, is seeking to host a motivated postdoctoral researcher in his "Dynamics of Complex Flow" research group. The group focuses on cutting-edge research at the intersection of fundamental science and applications, with current emphasis on microfluidics, microswimmers, and biomedical flows. Candidates interested in theory, computation, or experimental approaches to complex fluid dynamics are encouraged to apply and develop an independent, high-impact research proposal. Research Areas: • Complex Fluid Dynamics • Microfluidics • Microswimmers • Biomedical Flows • Theory, Computation, and Experiments Eligibility: Applicants must be Indian citizens with a Ph.D., M.D., or M.S. degree in Science, Engineering, or Medicine from a recognized university. Those who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting the award of the degree are also eligible, but will receive a lower fellowship amount until the degree is awarded. The upper age limit is 35 years at the time of application deadline, with a 5-year relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged & Women candidates. Applicants should have an outstanding research track record. The fellowship cannot be availed with the doctoral thesis supervisor or at the same institution where the PhD was earned. The mentor must hold a regular academic/research position in India. Funding: The fellowship provides Rs. 80,000 per month plus applicable HRA for PhD holders, and Rs. 50,000 per month plus HRA for those awaiting degree award. Additionally, a research grant of Rs. 2,00,000 per annum and overheads of Rs. 1,00,000 per annum are provided. The fellowship is tenable for 2 years and is taxable under Indian income tax rules. No other fellowship can be held concurrently. Application Timeline: • Call opens: 15 January 2026 • Application deadline: 17 February 2026 How to Apply: Interested candidates should email Prof. Antarip Poddar ([email protected]) with a brief CV and a short description of proposed research ideas to discuss alignment and mentoring before formal submission. The formal application must be submitted online via the ANRF portal ( http://anrfonline.in/ANRF/npdf ) during the application window. Ensure your mentor is registered on the portal and submit all required documents as per the guidelines. For more details, visit the ANRF NPDF scheme page or contact Prof. Poddar directly. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career researchers to advance their expertise in complex fluid dynamics and related interdisciplinary fields at a leading Indian institution.
