Joint Postdoctoral Fellow in Robotics, AI, and Marine Ecological Monitoring
New joint postdoctoral opportunity in
Robotics
,
Computer Science
, and
Environmental Science
focused on marine ecological monitoring and conservation.
The position is jointly supervised by
Prof. Apple PY Chui
at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and
Prof. Junfeng Wu
at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. The project bridges intelligent robotics, AI, and marine ecology to develop autonomous systems for underwater habitat mapping, biodiversity research, and field-based environmental monitoring in the Greater Bay Area.
Research themes include autonomous underwater platforms, AI-driven perception and navigation, multimodal sensor integration, real-time data analysis, and marine field deployments. The role is also connected to the Laboratory for Intelligent Autonomous Systems (LIAS) and coral/marine conservation work.
Eligibility: a PhD in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; strong skills in robotic system design, autonomous control, sensor fusion, and/or machine learning; proficiency in Python, C++, ROS, and simulation tools; and strong English communication skills. Experience in underwater or field robotics is highly desirable. Candidates must satisfy postdoctoral admission criteria for both CUHK and CUHK(SZ).
