PhD in Organic Synthesis and Supramolecular Chemistry (Boron Assemblies)

The Université de Rennes is offering a fully funded PhD position in organic synthesis and supramolecular chemistry, focusing on the synthesis and properties of new molecular assemblies with boron. The project, supervised by Fabienne Berrée, Barbara Le Grel, and Yann Trolez, is based in the Equipe CORINT, Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes. The research will involve developing new supramolecular compounds, such as rotaxanes and threaded species, using tetravalent boron. These assemblies, particularly those incorporating BODIPY, have shown exceptional fluorescence properties, making them of significant interest for advanced materials and chemical research. The successful candidate will be responsible for the synthesis of boron compounds and is expected to have strong skills in organic synthesis, with an openness to supramolecular chemistry. The project aims to go beyond simple rotaxanes, exploring the dynamic and optical properties of these new assemblies. The position is funded for 36 months by the Université de Rennes, with a start date in October 2026.
