Postdoctoral Fellowship in Holocaust Studies at the College of Charleston

The College of Charleston is inviting applications for the Rose Mibab and Carl Goldberg Postdoctoral Fellowship in Holocaust Studies at the Zucker/Goldberg Center for Holocaust Studies and the Yaschik/Arnold Jewish Studies Program . This is a postdoctoral fellowship beginning in Fall 2026 . The fellow will join an international project focused on second generation oral histories of the Holocaust , combining independent research with project assistantship duties and teaching one course per semester. The role is hybrid in structure, but the fellow must reside in the Charleston area and work from the Jewish Studies Center. The fellowship is especially relevant to researchers in Holocaust Studies , Jewish Studies , History , Oral History , Genocide Studies , and related humanities or social science fields. The post specifically welcomes applicants whose work addresses oral histories of the Holocaust, the legacies of genocide and mass violence, and the intergenerational transmission of trauma and memory. Funding includes a competitive stipend , benefits package , and a modest support budget , along with access to institutional resources and support. The appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal for a second year. Eligibility highlights: applicants must have the Ph.D. in hand by August 2026 and must have completed the doctorate no earlier than 2021 . Application materials include a cover letter, CV, and three academic recommenders with contact information. The application deadline is 2026-05-01 . Apply through the CofC Jobs portal using the official posting. Inquiries may be directed to Assistant Professor Chad S.A. Gibbs at [email protected] .
