Assistant/Associate Professor

China Maritime Studies Institute

The position is based in the Strategic and Operational Research Department and supports academic research using Chinese-language sources to produce books, articles, quick-turnaround reports, translations, and other studies on PRC maritime developments. The role also includes collaboration on research projects, stakeholder engagement, library support, events, and related teaching and wargaming activities.
Applicants should have strong research and analytical skills, demonstrated expertise on China and maritime security issues, and the ability to write for both academic and operational audiences. A master's degree or enrollment in a Ph.D. program is required; a research-oriented Ph.D. is beneficial.
Mandarin Chinese reading proficiency is required
. Highly desirable candidates will have significant experience researching PRC security issues, innovative analytical experience, and a strong publication record focused on PRC strategy, policy, military, and/or maritime issues.
This is a
full-time, non-tenure-track
federal faculty appointment. Salary is competitive, listed at
$113,888-$170,825 per year
, and includes federal benefits such as health insurance, pension and retirement savings with employer matching, paid leave, and other benefits. Relocation expenses may be reimbursed according to policy.
