Fully Funded PhD and Postdoc Positions in Heterogeneous Catalysis, Biocatalysis, and Chemo-enzymatic Conversion

UCLouvain (Université catholique de Louvain) is hiring for fully funded PhD and postdoc positions in the group of Prof. Damien Debecker at the Institute of Condensed Matter and Nanosciences (IMCN), Belgium. The project sits at the intersection of chemistry , chemical engineering , environmental science , and biocatalysis . The research goal is to combine heterogeneous catalysis , enzymatic , and chemo-enzymatic approaches to convert an air pollutant into value-added bulk or specialty chemicals. The work is described as integrated and multidisciplinary, with a strong emphasis on solving a specific environmental problem while creating chemical value. Openings: one PhD grant (4 years) and one postdoctoral fellowship (2 years), both starting ASAP and supported by FNRS funding. PhD profile: master’s level degree in chemistry, biochemistry, bio-engineering, chemical engineering, or equivalent. Postdoc profile: PhD in heterogeneous catalysis or biocatalysis. Relevant experience may include heterogeneous catalyst preparation, zeolite catalysis, alcohol selective oxidation, mild oxidation of methane, enzyme immobilization, biocatalysis, organic synthesis, pressurized batch reactors, characterization of solid materials, kinetics, cascade reactions, reaction mechanisms, and analytical chemistry (GC, LC, MS, NMR). Applicants should be fluent in English; French is a plus. Strong writing/oral communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team are expected. How to apply: email [email protected] with the subject “FNRS UCLouvain”. Include a CV, a short motivation letter (under one page), and a list of publications if applicable.
