Postdoctoral Research in History of Literary Exhibitions (French Speaking Area/North)
The KU Leuven invites applications for a two-year, full-time postdoctoral fellowship focused on the history of literary exhibitions in the French-speaking area of the North. This position is embedded within RIMELL (Interdisciplinary Research on the Museography and Exhibition of Literature and Books), an international network pioneering the study of literature and book exhibitions. RIMELL serves as a collaborative platform for museums, academia, and art schools, aiming to advance both the historical understanding and practical application of exhibition research.
The successful candidate will conduct research on the history of literary and book exhibitions at relevant institutions, including archival exploration. Responsibilities include presenting research findings in academic journals and at conferences, and actively participating in the RIMELL network’s activities. The role offers opportunities to engage with museum professionals, art educators, and scholars, contributing to the creation and curation of literary exhibitions.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in literary studies or museology. Native-level or equivalent proficiency in French and excellent command of English are essential; knowledge of Dutch is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate a passion for literature, an interest in the intersection of literature, museums, and exhibitions, and a commitment to preserving literature as cultural heritage. Experience in academic publishing and conference presentation is required, while skills in communicating to broader audiences (press, social media) are considered a plus.
The fellowship is based at KU Leuven, Belgium, offering an intellectually stimulating and inclusive environment.
