The programme is an international, interdisciplinary research collaboration based in
Germany
and
Ghana
in partnership with the
University of Ghana
. It investigates how
food system diversification
can improve
human health

nutrition
,
environmental sustainability
,
food security
, and
climate resilience
.

24 doctoral researcher positions
and
8 postdoctoral researcher positions
across projects in
agroforestry

crop diversification
,
dietary diversity and nutrition
,
food policy and markets

sustainability and resilience

remote sensing and data modelling

behavioral strategies for healthy food choices

metabolic/public health research
.
Examples of project themes include soil health and biodiversity, resilient cropping systems, biodiversity and human-nature relationships, agroforestry adoption, farm production diversity and efficiency, socioeconomic and environmental impacts of crop diversification, and market/policy effects on dietary diversity. The broader CRC is coordinated by researchers at the
University of Bonn
and includes collaboration with other German and Ghanaian partners.
