Hosted by the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, the project aims to advance pathways to a circular bioeconomy by developing innovative models and strategies for converting biomass into renewable biofuels, supporting resource efficiency and sustainable development. As a doctoral researcher, you will engage in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of civil engineering, environmental science, and industrial sustainability. The project will involve systems modelling, sustainability assessment, and strategic planning to optimise biomass valorisation processes. You will collaborate with leading academics and industry partners, gaining exposure to cutting-edge research and practical applications in the field of renewable energy and waste-to-energy solutions. The studentship provides full funding for four years, including tuition fees and a stipend, supported by the EPSRC and Arup. Applicants should have a strong academic background in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related discipline, with excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
