Postdoctoral Researcher in Catalysis and Energy Materials (Villa Group, ICIQ, ERC Funded)
The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in the Villa Group, funded by the European Union (ERC Advanced Grant 101097684-Excited). ICIQ is internationally recognized for its excellence in chemical research, with a strong commitment to addressing major social and economic challenges in sustainable catalysis, renewable energy, and health. The institute offers a vibrant, multidisciplinary environment and supports the professional development of scientists at all levels.
This postdoctoral position focuses on the development of new materials for energy conversion and CO2 reduction. The successful candidate will join Prof. Emilio Palomares’s group and contribute to the design and synthesis of catalysts for CO2 reduction, as well as photoactive materials for solar cells. Responsibilities include the characterization of structural and optoelectronic properties using advanced techniques such as X-ray diffraction, transmission and scanning electron microscopy, cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical reduction, gas chromatography, UV-vis and fluorescent spectroscopy. The researcher will also participate in the design of novel PV+EC systems, prepare technical reports and manuscripts for publication, and present research findings at conferences and workshops.
Applicants must hold a PhD in chemistry, electrochemistry, materials science, or related fields. Demonstrable experience in preparing catalysts for CO2 reduction and photoactive materials for solar cells is mandatory. Familiarity with structural and optoelectronic characterization techniques is required, and excellent English language skills are essential. Valued qualities include teamwork and experience supervising early-stage researchers.
The position offers a full-time 3-year contract, with an annual salary between 28,560€ and 36,720€, split into 12 monthly payments. Additional benefits include free parking, a continuous training plan, and flexible working hours.
