Ghent University is seeking a Postdoctoral Assistant for a temporary full-time position in the Department EA05 - Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. The role focuses on academic research, with at least 70% of the assignment dedicated to research activities, particularly in semantic reasoning on biomedical data streams. The successful candidate will also assist in teaching at the Bachelor’s or Master’s level and provide guidance to Master’s and doctoral students. Applicants must hold a Doctor of Computer Science Engineering or an equivalent degree, with the degree requirement fulfilled by the start date. For degrees awarded outside the EU, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) is required. Candidates should have demonstrated research experience in semantic reasoning on biomedical data streams and have a record of promising research during their doctorate. Interest in student coaching and relevant scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals are expected. The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension up to three years following a favorable evaluation. Remuneration is based on salary scale AAP5, and staff benefits include paid leave, training opportunities, bicycle commuting reimbursement, and ecocheques. The position starts on 1 November 2025 at the earliest.
