Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies

The Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies (CRSES) at Stellenbosch University is offering a fully funded PhD scholarship in Sustainable Energy Entrepreneurship. The successful candidate will be enrolled at Stellenbosch University and may be co-supervised by Prof. Frank-Martin Belz at TUM. The research will focus on scaling and impact of sustainable enterprises within the mini-grid sector, with connections to Living Labs established across SEED Centers. The scholarship covers a monthly stipend, international mobility grants, research expenses, and conference participation for four years. Applicants must have a Master’s degree in sustainable energies, business management (with entrepreneurship focus), or related fields, obtained within the last six years, and must be nationals of a country in the Global South. Strong academic record, proficiency in English, motivation, and social engagement are required. Women and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
