PhD and Postdoc Positions in Pesticides, Public Health, and Data Science at University of Copenhagen

The University of Copenhagen is offering fully funded PhD and Postdoc positions in the interdisciplinary project "Pesticides and Human Health" at the Section for Health Data Science and AI, Department of Public Health. The research focuses on investigating the indirect exposure to pesticides via air and its effects on fertility, pregnancy outcomes, and children's health and education, aiming to understand the causal relationships between pesticide exposure and public health. The project is funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation and provides an international, collaborative research environment in central Copenhagen, Denmark. PhD candidates will co-author and develop independent research papers, write an article-based PhD thesis, attend courses, workshops, and conferences, and spend at least six months at another international research institution. Postdoc candidates will develop and co-author research papers, participate in seminars and workshops, and teach and disseminate research findings. Both positions emphasize applied statistics, causal inference, environmental and health economics, epidemiology, and big data analysis. Experience with statistical software such as Python, R, Stata, or SAS is required. Applicants should have a relevant MSc (for PhD) or PhD (for Postdoc) in fields such as economics, data science, epidemiology, or related disciplines. The ability to work independently and collaboratively with large datasets is essential. International applicants must have qualifications equivalent to Danish degrees. The working language is English, and the university offers support for international staff and families. Employment includes salary, pension, and terms according to Danish state agreements, with possible pension exemption for international researchers. The application deadline is 30 April 2026, and the start date is 1 September 2026.
