Doctoral researcher in Computational Social Science
The University of Luxembourg, a leading international research university, is seeking a Doctoral researcher in Computational Social Science. The position is based at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT), specifically within the Interdisciplinary Research in Sociotechnical Cybersecurity (IRiSC) Team. Supervised by Prof. Dr. Gabriele LENZINI, the successful candidate will contribute to the FNR-funded CLARITY project, which focuses on community-led analysis and reporting to improve trust and transparency in online information.
The research will center on developing AI-assisted tools leveraging large language models (LLMs) to support community-based fact-checking. The candidate will design and evaluate methods to enhance the robustness of algorithms used in these systems, collaborating with interdisciplinary researchers across cybersecurity, social sciences, and artificial intelligence. The role also involves publishing research findings in top-tier scientific conferences and peer-reviewed journals.
Applicants should possess an MSc degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field. Essential skills include strong programming abilities (Python, machine learning frameworks, data analysis tools), analytical thinking, and problem-solving. Experience with social media research or large language models is advantageous. Candidates must demonstrate at least B2-level proficiency in the language of their thesis, with accepted certificates as specified by the university.
