PhD Position in RNA Localization and RNA-Targeting Approaches

Goethe University Frankfurt is advertising a PhD position in RNA localization and RNA-targeting approaches in the research group of Gabrijela Dumbović , Independent Junior Group Leader at the STARR lab. The project is part of the newly funded TRR440 smART: specific mRNA targeting consortium and focuses on RNA biology , mRNA targeting , RNA processing, and the mechanisms that regulate RNA localization and function. The successful candidate will work on developing new RNA-targeting approaches, combining molecular tool development, microscopy, imaging, and quantitative analysis to study RNA-protein interactions and structural elements that control RNA localization. The role also includes using ASO-based RNA perturbation to alter subcellular RNA distribution and contributing to collaborative publications. This opportunity is aimed at a motivated PhD student with a Master’s degree or equivalent in molecular biology or a related field. The post welcomes applicants from both experimental and computational backgrounds. Helpful experience includes cell culture, RNA methods, fluorescence microscopy, quantitative biology, and computational data analysis. The position is offered in a stimulating and collaborative environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure and professional development opportunities. It is embedded in a strong RNA biology and cardiovascular research network, including the CPI cluster of excellence, TRR267 on non-coding RNAs in the cardiovascular system, TRR440 on specific mRNA targeting, and SCALE cluster of excellence. To apply, candidates should send a cover letter and CV as a single PDF by email to Dr. Gabrijela Dumbović at [email protected] . More details are available via the linked job post and lab website.
