GEN-AI: Gender Inequalities in Access to and Consequences of Artificial Intelligence is recruiting for two research positions in Germany within the Northwest Alliance. The project examines how artificial intelligence interacts with demographic change, shifting gender roles, labor markets, family life, and welfare state institutions, with a strong focus on social inequality, gender, social policy, and computational social science. The research design combines cross-sectional and longitudinal survey data with large-scale analyses of job advertisements and family-related panel data. Open positions • PhD Candidate at Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, Institute for Social Sciences, research group “Sociology of Social Stratification” led by Prof. Dr. Gundula Zoch. The role is 70% E13 TV-L for up to 4 years / 48 months, subject to funding. • Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Bremen / SOCIUM, research group of Prof. Dr. Wiebke Schulz. The role is full-time E13 TV-L until 30 June 2029. Research themes include gender inequalities, AI, labor markets, family dynamics, social policy, welfare state institutions, and quantitative empirical research. Applicants should be interested in inequality research and, for the PhD, able to develop a cumulative dissertation within the project. The postdoc role emphasizes independent quantitative analysis and computational social science methods. Eligibility highlights PhD: Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, sociology, political science, demography, or related fields; strong quantitative and longitudinal analysis skills; experience with survey/panel data; Stata or R; German and English proficiency. Postdoc: completed PhD in sociology, social sciences, or related discipline; strong quantitative research record; experience with complex datasets and computational social science; English proficiency and German at least C1 or willingness to reach it quickly. Funding The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs through DIFIS-SOFO. The positions are salaried under E13 TV-L; no tuition fees are mentioned.
