Fully Funded PhD Position in Intelligent Language Systems, NLP, Reasoning and Neuro-Symbolic Methods at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg

Intelligent Language Systems Lab at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg is recruiting for a fully funded PhD position in Natural Language Processing , Machine Learning , and related areas. The advertised research themes include reasoning , interpretability , neuro-symbolic methods , and memory , with a large degree of research freedom. The lab is led by Professor Gözde Gül Şahin and is now part of the Intelligent Language Systems Lab at FAU. The lab’s broader interests also include low-resource learning, expert knowledge in language technologies, text simplification, linguistic structure analysis, grammatical error correction, dialogue understanding, and question answering. Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold an MSc in computer science, computational linguistics, or a related field before the PhD start date. Strong NLP and ML background, excellent programming skills, English proficiency, and the ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams are expected. German is not required. Funding: the position is a fully funded E13 position (100%) .
