International Climate Protection Postdoctoral Fellowship in Climate Change, Biodiversity, and Sustainability (Germany)

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is offering the International Climate Protection Fellowship, a prestigious and highly competitive opportunity for postdoctoral researchers and climate leaders from the Global South. This fellowship supports 12–24 month research or practical projects in Germany, focusing on climate change mitigation and adaptation, biodiversity and ecosystem conservation, sustainable oceans and natural resource management, resource-efficient production and consumption, and sustainable urban development. The program is designed for professionals and researchers who are actively engaged in climate or sustainability-related fields and who demonstrate strong leadership potential. Fellows will benefit from a monthly stipend of up to €3,000, coverage of travel costs, health insurance, and family allowances, as well as German language courses and an introductory programme. Long-term alumni support is also provided. The fellowship aims to foster high-impact research and practical solutions in climate protection and resource conservation, encouraging collaboration and knowledge exchange between Germany and the fellows' home countries. Eligible applicants must be from non-European developing or transition countries and possess excellent English and/or German language skills. The application deadline is 10 February 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for emerging leaders in environmental science, sustainability, and urban planning to advance their research and professional development in Germany.
