Postdoctoral researcher position at the University of Central Florida in learning-based control with safety and geometric structure for complex dynamical systems. The research program spans reinforcement learning for control systems and robotics , transfer learning in dynamical systems , multi-agent/multimodal control and coordination , safe reinforcement learning , and geometric learning for control . The group is led by Haonan Ling (Assistant Professor in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering) in collaboration with Tong Wu . Eligible applicants should have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering , Computer Science , Mechanical Engineering , Applied Mathematics , or a related field, with a strong background in machine learning , especially reinforcement learning . The post seeks candidates who are intellectually independent, rigorous, and able to communicate science clearly. The appointment is 24 months total, starting August 1, 2026 , with an initial 12-month contract and a possible 12-month renewal based on satisfactory performance. Funding is secured for the full duration. The group also highlights strong computational resources, including NVIDIA A6000 GPU workstations , DGX systems , and access to robotics hardware for real-world validation.
