Postdoctoral Position in Physics Education Research on Quantum Laboratory Courses

Postdoctoral position in Physics Education Research at the University of Colorado Boulder , focused on quantum laboratory courses . The research group of Heather Lewandowski is inviting applications for a postdoc to study student learning, skill development, and career preparation in undergraduate and graduate quantum lab environments. A major part of the project is a capstone-style course where students work with quantum industry partners on authentic, team-based projects. The postdoc will also help investigate how these courses can be adapted and scaled across institutions to support the growing quantum workforce. This opportunity is especially relevant for candidates interested in quantum education , laboratory instruction , student learning , and workforce development . The position offers substantial intellectual flexibility, allowing the successful candidate to help shape the research direction within the broader themes of quantum education and lab-based learning. Eligibility highlights include a Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, engineering, physics education, or a closely related field, some knowledge of quantum mechanics, strong communication skills, and a clear interest in education research. Prior Physics Education Research experience is not required, but interest in the field is expected. To apply, send a cover letter and CV with references to [email protected] . Applications are reviewed immediately and will continue until the position is filled. A September 2026 start date is preferred, with flexibility possible.
