Postdoctoral Researcher in LLMs, Geospatial AI, and Health Data Analytics
UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the team of Assistant Professor Hui (Henry) Luan, working at the intersection of large language models (LLMs), geospatial AI, and health data analytics. The research focuses on developing innovative methods to integrate AI and spatial data for advancing geospatial health and population health outcomes. The successful candidate will be co-mentored by Dr. Wenqi Shi, an expert in AI and healthcare.
Key responsibilities include training and fine-tuning LLMs and GeoAI models for geospatial health data analysis, developing LLM-based spatial analysis tools, collaborating with experts in epidemiology, health data science, and computer science, preparing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, presenting research at academic conferences, assisting in grant proposal development, and mentoring graduate students.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Geospatial Data Science, Statistics, or a related field. Essential skills include a strong background in geospatial AI and generative AI/LLMs, proficiency in R or Python, a proven publication record, and strong communication skills. Desired qualifications include experience with GeoAI applications in Street View Images and Remote Sensing, knowledge of Bayesian spatial statistics, spatial accessibility, spatial optimization, and spatial epidemiology.
The position is based in Dallas, Texas, and offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research with real-world impact in health and spatial analytics.
