JRF Position in Telematics-Driven Road Safety Study with PhD Opportunity – Civil/Transportation Engineering
The Transportation Research Innovation Analysis Lab (TRIAL) at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani Hyderabad Campus, is inviting applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position in an industry-funded project titled "Telematics-Driven Road Safety Study." The project is funded by Think Safety Private Limited and supervised by Prof. Bandhan Bandhu Majumdar, with co-supervisors Dr. Prasant Sahu and Dr. Ishant Sharma. The main objective is to analyze data collected from telematics devices installed in vehicles to identify vulnerable locations and assess road safety risks using advanced statistical, geospatial, and machine learning models.
The position is open to candidates with a postgraduate degree (M.Tech/ME) in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Planning, with a specialization in Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or related research areas. Applicants should have strong experience or familiarity with road safety, transportation planning, or urban planning projects. Experience with transportation engineering research, data collection, and analysis is highly desirable.
The project duration is 12 months, with a consolidated gross salary of INR 37,000 per month. Selected candidates may have the opportunity to register for the Ph.D. program at BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus, subject to fulfilling the institute's Ph.D. qualification requirements.
