Postdoctoral Researcher in Environmental Sustainability, Biobased Economy, and AI

Postdoctoral Researcher opportunity at Syracuse University in the Dynamic Sustainability Lab , led by Dr. Jay Golden . The position is centered on environmental sustainability , environmental policy , supply chains , environmental sciences , environmental engineering , and the biobased economy , with a strong emphasis on applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to research, data management, and data visualization. The project supports research on the U.S. biobased economy, including bioenergy , biochemicals , bioplastics , biobased consumer products , sustainable aviation fuels , and biobased building materials . The researcher will help expand an interactive biobased feedstocks and products database and website, contribute to technical reports and research articles, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and may take part in limited teaching by mutual agreement. Eligibility highlights include a PhD or equivalent in environmental sciences, environmental policy, environmental engineering, bio-agricultural sciences/engineering, chemical engineering, supply chain management, or computer sciences. Strong English communication skills are required, along with experience in data management and data visualization. Preferred candidates will understand biobased supply chains, AI tools such as Claude and Notebook LP, and environmental life cycle assessment and greenhouse gas accounting (scopes 1, 2, and 3). The position is full-time and based on campus in Syracuse, New York. The salary range is $62,400–$66,900 . The role is supported by a multi-year USDA Advancing Markets for Producers grant .
