GATE Lyon Saint-Etienne

Postdoc in Political Economy, Social Choice Theory, and Voting Systems at GATE Lyon Saint-Etienne

Postdoctoral position in political economy , social choice theory , and voting systems within the CONDORCET project (France 2030 / PEPR Maths-ViVES / ANR) at GATE Lyon Saint-Etienne . The project brings together economists, mathematicians, computer scientists, and political scientists to compare voting systems in a unified framework. The postdoc will join Antoinette Baujard 's team in the Game Theory, Collective Decision-Making and Markets group and will work on questions at the intersection of electoral systems, democratic representation, voter behaviour, and experimental economics. Research topics mentioned include sensitivity of results to voting rules, polarisation and representation, complexity and understanding of voting rules, abstention and participation, redistribution, and social preferences. The role includes designing and running lab, field, and online experiments and analysing the resulting data. The post is especially suitable for candidates with strong autonomy in statistical and econometric methods for data analysis. Prior knowledge of social choice theory is welcome but not required; methodological rigour and curiosity are emphasised as the key selection criteria. The candidate can choose to work on the Saint-Etienne or Lyon campus. The post links to English and French calls and a project page for more information. No deadline, salary, or stipend amount is stated in the post excerpt provided.
