Postdoctoral Scholar in Enzyme Directed Evolution, AI-Enabled Enzyme Design, and Biosensor Development at UC Davis
University of California, Davis is recruiting a
Postdoctoral Scholar
in the Siegel Lab for research at the interface of
enzyme directed evolution
,
AI-enabled enzyme design
, and
biosensor development
.
The project focuses on building a next-generation
enzyme-based electrochemical biosensor platform
for
metabolic health
. The work combines
protein engineering
,
computational design
,
experimental evolution
,
genomic mining
, and high-throughput wet-lab validation. The post also connects academic research with translational applications in food, health, and biotechnology, including collaboration with an external industry partner and Joe Wang at UC San Diego.
Applicants should hold a
PhD
in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Systems Biology, or a related field. Strong experience in
high-throughput cloning
,
protein characterization
, and computational protein engineering/sequence analysis is expected. The role also requires excellent communication, project management, and the ability to deliver results under strict timelines.
Funding is a salaried postdoctoral appointment with a posted range of
$69,073-$82,836
. The application window is open, with
first review on 2026-05-29
and final consideration continuing until
2026-06-12
.
To apply, submit materials through UC Recruit, including a CV and the required Authorization to Release Information form. Optional research and teaching statements may also be uploaded, and 3-5 references are required.
