Postdoctoral Researcher in 6G + AI Networks / Programmable & Intelligent Network Systems

imec and the University of Antwerp are recruiting a Senior/Postdoctoral Researcher in Programmable & Intelligent Network Systems within the Programmable and Intelligent Networks (PIN) team at IDLab . This is a postdoctoral opening focused on 6G networks , AI/ML-driven orchestration , O-RAN , network slicing , closed-loop automation , and edge–cloud continuum systems. The role involves leading research on next-generation 6G architectures, designing AI-native orchestration and zero-touch management, building and integrating intelligent network functions, and validating solutions in real 5G/6G testbeds and living labs. The group works on intelligent automation in 5G/6G, distributed intelligence, network digital twins, 6GApps, programmable network exposures, and testbed-driven validation. Applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field . Strong experience with AI/ML pipelines , MLOps , cloud-native tools such as Docker and Kubernetes , CI/CD, and experimental research in testbeds or system integration is expected. English communication skills and interest in collaborative, multidisciplinary, and industry-facing research are important. The position is based in Antwerp, Belgium .
