The Cancer Research UK Manchester Centre is offering a fully funded PhD scholarship as part of the Black Leaders in Cancer initiative. This non-clinical PhD project focuses on investigating the influence of the aged microbiome on the immune response to cancer, aiming to support the next generation of leaders in cancer research. The program is based at the Division of Cancer Sciences, The University of Manchester, and is supervised by a team of leading researchers including Dr Jamie Honeychurch, Dr Ana Vitlic, Dr Evangelos Giampazolias, Dr Simona Valletta, and Dr Jonathan Lim (Imperial College London). The research will involve advanced laboratory techniques in cancer immunology, microbiome analysis, and translational research, with opportunities to contribute to cutting-edge discoveries in cancer biology, immunotherapy, and cell therapy for solid tumours. The scholarship covers tuition fees, provides a stipend for living expenses, and includes support for research costs. Applicants should have a strong academic background in biological or medical sciences and a demonstrated interest in cancer research.
