This opportunity is ideal for candidates with a PhD awarded or thesis submitted in Science, Engineering, or Medicine, who are interested in advanced research on microalgae, microbial bioprocessing, and related biotechnological applications. The research themes include integrated microalgal biorefineries and process intensification, microalgae-yeast and microalgae-bacteria consortia for enhanced productivity, carbon capture and utilization (CCU) through microbial platforms, wastewater treatment and waste valorization to biofuels and high-value bioproducts, and pilot-scale bioprocess development for sustainable biomanufacturing. The BBRL offers state-of-the-art experimental infrastructure for algal and microbial biotechnology, translational research with pilot-scale process development exposure, strong support for high-impact publications, and mentorship towards independent research careers and academic leadership. Eligibility requirements include Indian citizenship, a PhD/M.D/M.S degree or thesis submission, at least two published papers, and an age limit of 35 years (with relaxations for certain categories). The fellowship cannot be held at the institution where the candidate earned their PhD, nor with their PhD supervisor. The mentor must be a regular academic/research staff member with a PhD in Science or Engineering. The fellowship provides ₹80,000 per month plus HRA for PhD-awarded candidates, ₹50,000 per month plus HRA for thesis-submitted candidates, a research grant of ₹2,00,000 per annum, and overheads of ₹1,00,000 per annum, for a duration of 2 years.
