Postdoctoral Researcher in AI-Driven Catalyst Discovery and CO2-to-Alcohols Catalysis

Postdoctoral Researcher in AI-Driven Catalyst Discovery and CO2 Conversion at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. This opening is in the Porosoff Research Group and is part of an ARPA-E CATALYST project focused on catalysis , heterogeneous catalysis , and CO2-to-alcohols conversion . The role sits at the intersection of experimental catalyst discovery and AI/ML, including the use of large language models to guide closed-loop experimentation, lab-scale testing, and catalyst scale-up/deployment. The project is highly collaborative and spans academia, national labs, and industry partners including Virginia Tech, A*STAR, Northwestern, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, and OxEon Energy. Eligibility highlights: a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field is required. Applicants should have hands-on experience in heterogeneous catalysis, including synthesis, characterization, and/or reactor testing. Python and data-driven methods/ML/AI experience are preferred, along with strong communication skills. Funding: competitive salary and benefits are offered. This is a postdoctoral research position, not a scholarship. Application window: rolling review, with priority consideration for applications received by 2026-05-15 . How to apply: use the online application form, upload a CV/resume and cover letter in PDF format, and submit the requested details through the portal.
