Postdoctoral Associate in Developmental and Systems Neuroscience at Yale School of Medicine

Yale University’s Dietrich Lab in the Department of Comparative Medicine at Yale School of Medicine is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate in Developmental and Systems Neuroscience . The lab studies how the infant brain learns about the social world and how early-life experience shapes neural circuits with long-term consequences for learning, attachment, and mental health. This postdoc is centered on developmental neuroscience , systems neuroscience , behavioral neuroscience , and neural circuit mechanisms of early-life social behavior and associative learning. The research uses mouse models, fiber photometry, circuit-specific viral approaches, in vivo recordings, and behavioral assays to investigate how infant brains encode maternal and social cues during development and how defined neuronal populations contribute to infant-specific learning. The position is intended for scientists who want to pursue ambitious questions in an emerging area of neuroscience. Postdoctoral associates will receive mentorship in project development, experimental design, manuscript preparation, fellowship and grant writing, scientific presentation, and long-term career planning. The lab emphasizes conceptual boldness, technical rigor, and independent project development leading to first-author publications and competitive applications for independent funding. Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree by the start date. A strong background in developmental neuroscience, systems neuroscience, behavioral neuroscience, or a related field is preferred. Experience with in vivo imaging, fiber photometry, electrophysiology, viral strategies, circuit manipulation, rodent behavior, and quantitative analysis is especially valued. Funding: salary follows Yale University postdoctoral compensation guidelines and is commensurate with experience; the current Year 1 minimum is $68,500. How to apply: send a CV, statement of research interests, and reference contacts to [email protected]. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
