Postdoc / Researcher in Resilient Environments for Ageing Populations
The Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in Resilient Environments for Ageing Populations within the Smart Architectural Technologies chair at the Department of Built Environment. This interdisciplinary position is part of nationally funded projects aimed at enhancing the health and well-being of older adults in long-term care settings. The research focuses on resilience, vulnerability management, and technology acceptance, with the goal of developing innovative frameworks for healthcare decision-making and influencing policy in the built environment sector.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative team, working closely with external stakeholders such as Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, care institutions, and housing cooperatives. Responsibilities include gathering and analyzing data on interaction dynamics in long-term care facilities, assessing the impact of living and organizational environments on health, care provision, and social contact, and evaluating technological interventions for future care facilities. The role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on the design and operation of healthcare environments for ageing populations.
Applicants should hold a PhD in social sciences, architecture, healthcare management, or a related field, with expertise in smart environments, long-term care, or healthcare decision-making. Required skills include proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods, strong communication and leadership abilities, and fluency in English and Dutch. Experience with fieldwork in long-term care settings, knowledge of smart architectural technologies, and the ability to critically analyze building functionality are highly valued. The position is full-time for one year, with a competitive salary (scale 10: €4,241–€5,538 per month), year-end bonus, vacation pay, and additional allowances. International candidates are supported with relocation and tax benefits.
