The Leiden University Electron Microscopy Infrastructure (EMPower) is a nation-wide initiative providing state-of-the-art cryo-EM and volume EM equipment for the Dutch research community. EMPower supports users with advanced platforms for data management and analysis, comprehensive training, and networking programs to foster collaborative research and expand the EM user base in The Netherlands. This postdoctoral position focuses on Data Management and Analysis within EMPower, embedded in the Imaging and Bioinformatics lab at the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS), Leiden University. The role is closely linked with the Amsterdam UMC Advanced Compute and Data Core team and NeCEN at Leiden University, offering a highly collaborative environment.
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will coordinate data management for cryo-EM/ET and volume-EM across EMPower facilities, developing a cloud-based infrastructure hosted by SURF and sharing metadata at the national level. You will lead the development of FAIR (meta)data annotation approaches, supporting the entire data life cycle from planning and acquisition to image analysis and sharing/reuse. Key responsibilities include developing AI approaches for annotation and analysis, integrating AI and data management, educating users, and investigating the scalability of compute requirements for specific analysis approaches. You will also contribute to a comprehensive training program for end users and publish your research in top-tier journals, presenting at national and international conferences.
