PhD in Archaeology: Votive Practices in Cypriot Sanctuaries of the Classical Period

PhD opportunity in archaeology at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in Lyon, France, focused on votive practices in Cypriot sanctuaries of the Classical period (5th–4th centuries BCE). The project examines material remains of votive activity, including limestone sculpture , terracotta figurines , and statue bases . The doctoral researcher will build a typo-chronology of votives, study the context of consecration, and analyze spatial arrangement and attachment methods. The work is embedded in the ANR-DFG programme KIT-2 and linked to the HiSoMA research unit. The PhD student will work with assemblages from legacy excavations held in major collections such as the Louvre , BnF , and the British Museum , and will also access unpublished material from ongoing excavations. Research visits may include museums in Larnaka , Dali , Nicosia , Paris , London , and Berlin . Funding: FTC PhD contract for 36 months, with a gross monthly salary of 2300 € . The position is full-time and includes annual leave/RTT, transport support at 75%, and a sustainable mobility allowance up to 300 €. Eligibility: BAC+5 / master's-level background is indicated.
