Postdoctoral Position in Computational Ion Channel Structure and Function at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research

The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) Hyderabad is inviting applications for a postdoctoral scientist or project research scientist position in the Vig Lab. This interdisciplinary, ICMR-funded project is led by Prof. Monika Vig and focuses on computational modeling of ion channel structure and function, as well as interactions with SNARE family proteins. The research involves molecular dynamics simulations, chemical library screening, and advanced computational approaches to understand ion channels in the context of synaptic neuroscience and psychiatric disorders. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in molecular dynamics simulations of proteins or computational protein chemistry, with demonstrated experience in atomistic modeling of protein structure and relevant publications. Essential skills include MD simulation, enhanced sampling approaches, computer-aided drug design, proficiency in Python, bioinformatics, and protein structure predictions using AI/ML tools. Experience with computational modeling of ion-channel structure, function, and virtual screening of chemical libraries is highly desirable. The position offers a competitive fellowship of INR 67,000 per month plus HRA. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension up to three years based on performance. The application process requires submission of a CV, a cover letter detailing prior experience, a statement of interest, and contact information for 2-3 references to [email protected]. Applications will be considered until a suitable candidate is found. This opportunity is ideal for candidates interested in computational neuroscience, protein structure, molecular dynamics, and drug design, and who wish to work in a collaborative research environment at a leading Indian research institution.
