Applicants must have a PhD in Civil Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or Mechanical Engineering, with proven research experience in structural modeling and machine-learning model development. Preferred candidates will have expertise in computational modeling using commercial and research software, development and validation of machine learning and AI models for structural response, physical experimental testing for structural and geotechnical applications, data acquisition and processing from monitoring systems, and validation of modeling results against experimental and monitoring data. The research project centers on advanced modeling of coupled fracture and damage in geomechanical materials subjected to various multiphysical loading regimes, including hydraulic, thermal, and chemical processes. Direct applications include enhanced modeling of hydraulic fracturing and carbon sequestration, with activities spanning theory development, implementation of advanced mechanics and numerical models, and constitutive model calibration and validation using physical experimental data. Applicants must possess a PhD in Engineering Mechanics, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, with proven research experience in computational mechanics and computational geomechanics. Preferred qualifications include expertise in modeling geomechanical systems, hydraulic fracturing, carbon sequestration, multiphysics modeling, non-linear solid material response, fracture modeling, machine learning for solid mechanics, development and coupling of numerical methods, digital rock technology, advanced imaging, high pressure and temperature triaxial tests, and experimental rock mechanics.
