Capacity Building Programme on Geopolitics in the 21st Century for Social Science Lecturers/Assistant Professors

Jamia Millia Islamia, a central university in New Delhi, India, is inviting applications for an ICSSR-sponsored two-week Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on "Geopolitics in the 21st Century: Global Trends, Regional Dynamics, and Implications for India," scheduled for 13–25 April 2026. This interdisciplinary programme is designed for early-career Lecturers and Assistant Professors in social science disciplines from UGC-recognised universities, colleges, and ICSSR institutes across India. The CBP aims to enhance the research capabilities of participants by providing in-depth exposure to contemporary geopolitical themes such as maritime security, geoeconomics, energy politics, cyber geopolitics, and the geopolitical dynamics of South Asia, West Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. In addition to thematic sessions, the programme includes training in research methodology, data analysis in social science research, academic writing, library skills, Indian Knowledge Systems, and decolonial frameworks. Led by Prof. Mujib Alam (Academy of International Studies, JMI) and Prof. Sujata Ashwarya (Centre for West Asian Studies, JMI), the programme is structured to support the professional development of early-career academics, helping them meet promotion requirements and build interdisciplinary research skills. The CBP is widely recognised as equivalent to Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) under UGC-CAS. There is no registration fee for selected participants. Travel reimbursement and accommodation will be provided according to ICSSR norms. The programme is limited to 30 seats, ensuring an interactive and focused learning environment.
