This postdoctoral opportunity at McGill University, in partnership with Merck, is ideal for candidates with strong training in synthetic organic chemistry and chemical biology. The position is based in the Luedtke Lab and focuses on the design and synthesis of small molecules, nucleoside derivatives, and functional chemical handles, with the goal of advancing mRNA therapeutics. The successful candidate will develop and optimize new synthetic routes, prepare reagents for downstream biochemical and RNA workflows, and perform structural and analytical characterization of compounds. The role offers close collaboration with biochemistry and RNA specialists at both McGill and Merck, providing exposure to translational research and industry-academic partnerships. Applicants should have a PhD in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or a closely related field (awarded within the last 4 years), a strong record of independent synthetic organic chemistry research, and excellent communication skills. Preferred qualifications include experience in small-molecule synthesis, NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, reaction development, and familiarity with bioconjugation or chemical biology tools.
