PhD Opportunity in Civil Engineering: Seismic Base Isolation and Elastomeric Composite Durability at BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus

PhD opportunity at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Hyderabad Campus under a BITS-CDRF funded project on Durability Assessment of Glued-Fiber Elastomeric Layered Isolators (GFELIs) for Seismic Protection of Buildings . The project sits at the intersection of Civil Engineering , Materials Science , and Mechanical Engineering , with research themes including seismic base isolation , durability and aging of elastomeric composites , experimental testing , shake-table studies , structural dynamics , and finite element modelling . Supervisor: Prof. Mohan S C Co-supervisor: Prof. Ramesh Adusumalli Eligibility: ME/M.Tech in Civil (Structural), Mechanical, or Materials Science and Engineering with first class or equivalent CGPA. GATE is preferred , though non-GATE candidates may also apply. Helpful background includes experimental material testing/characterization, earthquake engineering, structural dynamics, and FEM/simulation software. Funding: This is a funded PhD position. The fellowship is ₹37,000 per month for the first two years, then ₹40,000 or ₹42,000 per month after two years and approval of the research proposal, for the remaining period. The normal duration is 3–4 years .
