Fully Funded PhD Studentship in BIOFABRICATE Project – Bio-based Innovations for Sustainable Manufacturing, Construction, and Pharmaceuticals
Trinity College Dublin, Ireland’s leading university and ranked 75th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2026), invites applications for a fully funded PhD studentship in the BIOFABRICATE project. This opportunity is supervised by Professor Ramesh Babu in the School of Chemistry/CRANN and is funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM). The BIOFABRICATE project, titled 'Integrated Bio-based Innovations for Sustainable Manufacturing, Construction, and Pharmaceutical Applications from Irish Forest Biomass,' is a multi-institutional research programme led by the University of Galway and includes partners such as Technological University Dublin, Atlantic Technological University, Dublin City University, Teagasc, and several industry collaborators.
The project aims to develop and validate advanced bio-based materials and technologies derived from the growing supply of Irish forest biomass. These innovations are targeted for applications in engineered timber construction, manufacturing, food packaging, and pharmaceuticals, contributing to Ireland’s sustainable future. Funding for this PhD studentship is fully provided by DAFM, covering tuition and stipend.
