global entrepreneurship research

Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM)
research programme and the
Microentrepreneurship Research Group (MicroENTRE)
.
The successful candidate will conduct a doctoral project using
GEM survey data
(APS and NES) to study entrepreneurial attitudes, activities, aspirations, entrepreneurial intentions and behavior, opportunity perception, and socio-demographic or ecosystem determinants of entrepreneurship in Finland. The research topic is flexible and can be developed with the supervisor.
This is a
3-year fixed-term PhD position
in the Department of Marketing, Management and International Business at Oulu Business School, with doctoral studies pursued through the University of Oulu Graduate School (UniOGS). The role includes independent research, analysis of adult population and expert panel data, publication in peer-reviewed journals, presentations in academic and policy forums, and participation in seminars, doctoral courses, and international conferences.
Funding:
salary is typically
2600–2800 EUR/month gross
, with progression during the doctoral studies. The post is full time and starts in
Spring/Fall 2026
(negotiable).
Eligibility highlights:
a master’s degree in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship or a closely related field, strong grades, quantitative and mixed-methods skills, and proficiency in English. Experience with R, Stata, SPSS, survey data, entrepreneurship, innovation, public policy, or strategic management is desirable. Finnish is helpful but not required.
