Sam Petti

The Department of Mathematics at Tufts University is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to work with Professor Sam Petti on developing innovative methods for modeling, optimizing, and interpreting biological fitness landscapes. This interdisciplinary position is ideal for candidates with a PhD in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a closely related field. The successful applicant will have a strong research record or exceptional promise, with expertise in statistical inference, probability, and optimization. Experience working collaboratively with biologists or enthusiasm for learning about biological systems is highly valued, as are strong computational skills. The postdoctoral fellow will join a vibrant research environment and contribute to both research and teaching, with a maximum teaching load of two courses per year. The initial appointment is for two years, with the possibility of extension to a third year. The start date is flexible but must be no later than September 1, 2026.
