Fully Funded PhD Positions in Advanced Composite Materials and Sustainable Construction Materials at University of Technology Sydney

Two fully funded PhD positions are available in the research team of Prof. Sarah (Yixia) Zhang, Head of School and Professor in Engineering at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). UTS is highly ranked globally, with Mechanical Engineering ranked No. 1 in Australia and No. 10 globally, and Civil Engineering ranked No. 1 in Australia and No. 9 globally according to the 2025 U.S. News Best Global University Rankings. Project 1 focuses on advanced composite materials, nanocomposites, and nanotechnology, particularly as coating and adhesive materials with strong applications in marine, aerospace, vehicle, or other mechanical engineering fields. Project 2 centers on sustainable construction materials and structures, especially concrete 3D printing, with applications in construction and structural engineering. The scholarship support includes a full tuition fee waiver and a living stipend of approximately AUD 37,000 per year for 3.5 years. Candidates should have a strong academic record and relevant research experience in civil, mechanical, aerospace, materials engineering, or related disciplines, as evidenced by scholarly journal publications. Excellent research experience and skills in experimental research and numerical modelling are required.
