The Department of Chemistry and Biomedical Science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) invites applications for a PhD Candidate in Method Development in Quantum Chemistry. The successful candidate will join the eT program developer team ( www.etprogram.org ), with substantial involvement in software development and computational modeling. As a PhD Candidate, you will undertake high-quality research, produce academic publications, participate in international activities such as conferences and research stays, and engage with the eT developer team. Applicants must hold a relevant Master's degree in quantum chemistry or physics (or equivalent), with experience in theoretical development of quantum chemical or electronic structure models. The position requires experience beyond the application of quantum chemical methods. The course of study should correspond to a five-year Norwegian program, with 120 credits at the master's level. Master students may apply, but the degree must be completed and documented before starting. A strong academic background is essential, with an average grade of B or better on NTNU's grading scale. Excellent oral and written English skills, programming experience, and good mathematical skills are required. Preferred qualifications include contributions to large software code bases or open-source software development, and proficiency in Norwegian or Scandinavian languages. The position offers a gross salary of NOK 550,800 per annum, with a 2% statutory contribution to the State Pension Fund. The employment period is three years, with the possibility of a one-year extension for teaching duties.
