Postdoc in Vehicle Dynamics and Active Control of Rail Vehicles

This postdoctoral position at KTH Royal Institute of Technology focuses on vehicle dynamics and active control of rail vehicles, with a strong emphasis on mechatronic concepts and simulation-based validation. The successful candidate will conduct simulations of dynamic vehicle-track interactions for various rail vehicle types and develop innovative mechatronic solutions, implementing these as simulation models to validate their effectiveness. The research is closely linked to major projects funded by the EU-Rail research program and the rail vehicle industry, providing opportunities for industry collaboration and impactful research. A key responsibility is to contribute to the further development of the research group’s mechatronic Roller-Rig, a specialized facility for vehicle dynamic studies. The postdoctoral researcher will also participate in supervising doctoral and degree project students and contribute to undergraduate teaching, fostering a collaborative and educational environment. Applicants must have a doctoral degree (or equivalent foreign degree) and previous research experience in rail vehicle mechatronics. Preferred candidates will have obtained their doctorate within the last three years and have experience in Roller Rig design. The position is full-time, temporary (up to two years), and offers a monthly salary. KTH provides a creative and dynamic research environment, attractive benefits, and a commitment to equality, diversity, and sustainability. Applications must include a CV, diplomas and grades (with translations if needed), and a brief statement of research interests and goals. The deadline for applications is November 7, 2025.
