Postdoctoral Researcher in Experimental Reaction Engineering, Flow Calorimetry and Thermal Safety
Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse et l'Environnement de Lyon (IRCELYON), part of CNRS and Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 in France, is advertising a
2-year postdoctoral researcher position
in
experimental reaction engineering, flow calorimetry, and thermal safety
.
The project is strongly experimental and focuses on the investigation of
exothermic reactions
in
continuous flow calorimetry
, including hands-on work with state-of-the-art
Fluitec
equipment. Research topics include
thermal runaway risk analysis
,
reaction engineering under isothermal and non-isothermal conditions
,
biomass valorization
,
sustainable chemical processes
, and
kinetic modeling
linked to real experimental data.
This opportunity is well suited to candidates with a background in
chemical engineering
or related chemical sciences who enjoy laboratory-based research, experimental design, and interpreting complex thermal/reactive behavior. The post emphasizes the bridge between process safety and process development, with applications to challenging reactive systems such as oxidation of 5-HMF or furfural.
Eligibility highlights:
doctoral degree in chemical engineering, good knowledge of chemical reaction engineering, experience in experimental work and analysis, strong kinetic modeling background, and fluency in English.
Funding:
2-year postdoctoral contract with a salary of
2320 € gross per month
.
Application deadline:
1 June 2026
. Applicants should send a CV, motivation letter, transcript of record, doctoral degree, recommendation letters, and any other useful documents (language and degree certificates, awards, etc.) by email to the supervisor.
Supervisor:
Prof. Sebastien Leveneur, IRCELYON, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France.
