Postdoctoral Fellowship in Evaluation of Large Language Models for Digital Agriculture at Embrapa Digital Agriculture, Brazil
Embrapa Agricultura Digital, in partnership with the Science Center for Development in Digital Agriculture (SCD-AD/SemeAr) and supported by FAPESP, is offering a postdoctoral fellowship focused on the evaluation of Large Language Models (LLMs) for digital agriculture. The position is based in Campinas, São Paulo State, Brazil, at the Embrapa Digital Agriculture headquarters located within the University of Campinas campus.
The research aims to enhance agricultural production and sustainability through the application of digital technologies, specifically by developing and evaluating LLMs tailored for agricultural extension subdomains. The postdoc will be responsible for developing specific benchmarks, selecting and implementing evaluation metrics (both objective and subjective), and integrating these into the LLM development pipeline using Python. The role also involves experimental planning with statisticians, analyzing and recommending suitable models for each subdomain, and preparing scientific publications based on the research outcomes.
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team and be supervised by Professor Thiago Santos and Professor Silvia Maria Fonseca Silveira Massruhá. Applicants must have a PhD in computer science or a related field, experience with LLMs, evaluation metrics, and Python programming, and a strong publication record. The position is open to candidates of any nationality.
The fellowship provides a monthly stipend of R$ 12,570.00 (about US$ 2,330) and a technical reserve (10% of the annual scholarship) for research-related expenses.
