The Department of Space Engineering & Rocketry (SER) at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, established in 1964 as India’s first academic centre dedicated to space and rocket technologies, invites applications for the Ph.D. Programme (Spring 2026). We are looking for highly motivated candidates interested in advanced research across Aerospace Engineering, including: Rocket Propulsion (solid, liquid, hybrid), Combustion & Ramjet Technologies, Green Propellants & Fuel Development, Propellant Processing, Aerodynamics (low-speed, high-speed, hypersonic flows), Turbulence & Aero-acoustics, CFD for Aerospace Applications, Aerostructures & Aerospace Materials, Micro-thrusters & Emerging Space Technologies. SER houses extensive experimental propulsion facilities, multiple wind tunnels, static test setups for rocket motors, and strong CFD computing infrastructure, enabling research from fundamental physics to real-world aerospace applications.
